Twitter Data Scandal

Image for representative purpose only.

After Facebook, it is now Twitter who has leaked users' data in Cambridge Analytica Scandal

The recent outrage from different communities worldwide following the Cambridge Analytica scandal in which the social giant Facebook has been found to breach its own privacy policy and leak the personal data of its 87 million users. The personal data of such huge number of users have been leaked by Facebook to different third-party for targeted advertisements purpose and have been used in the way it is not supposed to according to Facebook's policies. Though Facebook is worse affected in this data scandal yet other social medias have not remain unscratched. Now the name of another very popular social media has come up in the Cambridge Analytica data scandal that contain profiles of almost every celebrity, renowned personalities, agencies. In a very shocking revelation to The Telegraph, Twitter have confirmed that it has sold the access of public data to Aleksandr Kogan in 2015. Aleksandr Kogan was then a psychology researcher at Cambridge University and his company Global Science Research (GSR) launched the quiz application "thisisyourdigitallife" that collected data from millions of Facebook users against their consent during 2014-2015. Twitter said that GSR paid and accessed for a single day in 2015 and collected random samples of public tweet between December 2014 and April 2015 but it was denied access of private information. Still it is not clear what Kogan and his firm did with the data but the immediate concern is the theoretical correlation of Facebook and Twitter data that reflects the comprehensiveness of the data collecting process. But according to Kogan they have used the data only for the purpose of "brand reports" and "survey extender tools" without violating Twitter's policies. It also seems from the short access window and randomized nature of the collected data that Kogan and his firm collected the data to study the general trend at a random point of time rather than any sustained and targeted campaign. Thus it seems from recent scenarios that no social media platform can be trusted for the protection of our private information as they are easily sharing them with third-party users in exchange of money.

Facebook Collecting Data From Rarely Active Profiles or Having No Profile

Image for representative purpose only.

Facebook's shocking revelation of their data collection policy from rarely active profiles or having no profile, now pointing fingers at popular social medias blaming them for doing same

Facebook faces severe waves of anger, outrage and criticism from millions of its users following the recent Cambridge Analytica data scandal in which Facebook is found to have breached its own privacy policy regarding sharing of personal data with third-party users. Facebook have leaked the personal data of almost 87 millions users worldwide and also involved in collecting details of personal phone calls and text messages from millions of android users over years through its mobile application. These series of events have raised doubts among millions of users regarding the privacy and security of their personal and sensitive data over Facebook in the upcoming future also and several users are now restraining themselves from using Facebook. Facebook is now forced to change its privacy policy with new user-friendly settings in which the users will be able to control what data they want Facebook to collect from them and what not.

Further recent revelations by Facebook about their data collection policy is far more shocking.  The data from millions of users are collected by Facebook even if they are rarely active or have never posted in Facebook. The fact that will give a huge shock is that Facebook even collects data of millions of people who do not have any Facebook account either. A blog post by Facebook's product management director David Baser explains in what way the personal information of users are collected and shared. Different types of services comprising of social plugins, Facebook logins to other accounts, Facebook Analytics and Facebook ads and measurement tools collect users' information from their vendors who uses Facebook's services and thus Facebook also have the details of a person who does not have any Facebook account. Seems horrifying isn't it? The fact is almost everyone is tracked and recorded somehow does not matter if he/she is a Facebook user or not. Thus Facebook collects each and every data from different apps, login sites and any domain that let you share or access something with Facebook login. The types of information collected as revealed by Baser comprises of computer's IP addresses, type of browser using to access the internet, software running on computer and other material. Thus Facebook collects information from ads and in return let them serve better ads in their platform and even Facebook itself uses this information to improve their own ads and to prevent bots. After revealing everything now David Baser is blaming other popular social medias in his blog that they also do the same and not Facebook is the only one doing it. The names mentioned by him includes Twitter, Pinterest, LinkedIn, Amazon and Google. They all have different share or ads or analytics services by which they also collect information from users and almost every other websites do the same. But the fact is even if they are collecting the information they are keeping and using the information without violating privacy of the users. A business should be always done in a clean manner with clients as clients are the base of your business. But Facebook in some cases is adopting unfair means of business and trying to run a monopoly business by disabling real traffic from users' fan pages in Facebook. It will be no time that people will soon get tired of Facebook and will choose any newly developed platform over it that provides data security, marketing and an excellent business facility and revenue. We Boldink Technologies promise to offer  very soon a better social media plaform for worldwide users providing the urgent need in respect to current situation.

Need for Indian Version of Facebook

Image for representative purpose only.

The Urgent Need of an Indian Social Media Network like Facebook Developed from "Make in India" Initiative

Following the Cambridge data analytical scandal by social media giant Facebook who breached its own privacy policy and leaked the personal data of about 87 million users, everyone is unhappy with Mark Zuckerberg and also doubt about their data security in the most popular social media in the upcoming future. Even Facebook have collected the personal phone calls and messages details from millions of android users. The co-founder of Whatsapp Brian Acton also ask everyone to delete their Facebook account right now from his official Twitter handle. The significance of his message lies in the fact that Acton had sold Whatsapp to Facebook in 2014 for a sum of $19 billion and was closely working with Facebook and Zuckerberg even after the sale as he was heading the Whatsapp division under him. Acton's comment brings in severe criticism in Twitter and other social platforms with people expressing their grievances about the handling of personal data by Facebook to third party users and many people have already stopped using Facebook and its related products due to the risk of privacy breach in future again.

The main problem lies in the fact that Facebook is the largest standing social media giant all over the world with no such competitor at its level who can grab the social market. Facebook have proved to be very useful as a social platform since years but the recent days scenario shows that its detrimental effects prevail over its usefulness. The recent changes in Like count policy of Facebook since March 2015 is affecting the business revenues of all pages by cutting-off the traffic to all pages by its own choice. The new policy do not allow more than 50-100 Likes per day to any page despite being real likes or made using genuine and paid social marketing sites and remove the extra likes after sometime. The fact is Facebook do not limit the Like count of the page as soon after it reaches its everyday target and continue to allow any number of Likes to come to the page for its own traffic and revenue generation. Now when it is time for the page owners to generate their revenue, Facebook will remove the extra likes thus depriving the page owners of their due revenue. But a notable point is that it never removes any Likes after 100+ Likes which are obtained by using Paid Promotion service of Facebook. The page owners work very hard day and night for their pages and they also spend good amount in social marketing from different vendors at affordable prices as Facebook's Social Promotion service sometimes prove to be costly at initial stages. Moreover, even if any page has million or billion likes still Facebook do not allow any advertisement on the pages but enjoy that traffic itself.

It is high time that we emphasis on the urgent need of developing our Indian version of social media network out of the "Make in India" initiative which can give a parallel competition to Facebook in the field of social media. The Mahindra Group chief Mr. Anand Mahindra in his Twitter handle proposed the development of an Indian version of similar social media startup and he is more than overwhelmed by the entrepreneurship mindset of India. He is even ready to provide support with a seed capital for this social media project. Boldink Technologies Private Limited, a newly born startup company is already working on the same idea last few months with the aim of making it a superior platform than Facebook. Boldink Technologies is not only interested to provide a social media network but also intend to provide a combined platform for developing and sharing academic knowledge and technical skills, nurturing of extra curricular skills and creativity, businesses on IT grounds with recent technological developments and lot more. We are in the initial phases of developing our model and already progressed a little with it and still a lot more effort and monetary resources are required for developing the complete platform sooner based on current need and market scenario.

Boldink Technologies hope that the leading industrialists of our country like Mr. Anand Mahindra will keep on motivating new entrepreneurs like us and will extend their kind support by assisting us with the required seed capital necessary for developing this giant platform. We are running a little delay with the work of this project due to the lack of seed capital required for initial investments at this early developmental stage. A good amount of investment have already been made out of our negligible ability and we are still continuing to keep the project progressing and badly in need of investments for completing this urgent project at earliest.

Facebook data leak scandal affected 87 million users instead of the previously reported value of 50 million

In another shocking revelation by the social media giant facebook, the Cambridge Analytica scandal affected 87 million users and their personal data instead of previously reported 50 million. The personal data of such a huge number of users were leaked without any prior knowledge of the users after facebook breached their own privacy policy. Severe criticism and outrage all over the world forced facebook to review its privacy policy and make it more flexible. The users will be able to view and control their data which they want facebook to share. But still the question arises that is the 87 million figure true or shall the number will increase again? We also do not have idea that how we are a victim of such a massive data scandal where our personal and sensitive data are involved.
